summer plans ruined.

So I just found out yesterday that my plans for this Saturday were ruined. I was really looking forward to have my last bit of fun before I flew out to Nicaragua on Monday, and now no more M.I.A, N*E*R*D, FlyLo, Sleigh Bells, The Gaslamp Killer, or Die Antwoord. I already had a feeling that they were going to cancel HARD LA after the mess that happened at EDC, but HARD LA shouldn't be taking heat for what happened at that rave when HARD's not even a rave. FML; and now, they're saying that they're going to make one giant festival on Aug. 7th when Soulwax and Crystal Castles are supposed to play, but they haven't even said if Saturday's original lineup is going to play. Ugh...thanks EDC for giving me an even bigger reason to hate you.

Finally working at somewhere I like!

So last Wednesday I got an interview at Aldo, after 2 months that I gave my application to the store, and then right in the middle of the interview, I got the job. So ridiculously awesome, I'm so happy! I can't wait to start working now, and I even went on a little shopping haul at H&M, F21, and Urban for some work clothes, cos I guess the majority of my clothes aren't all business/fashion attire.

On top of that, the same day I got hired, I won tickets to HARD LA thanks to LA Weekly, and all I had to do was to be one of the first two people to correctly give the name of M.I.A's son. I should have known, but thanks to my fast internet and Google, I'll never forget Ikhyd's name. LOL. So now in a few weeks, two days before my trip to Nicaragua, I'll be seeing M.I.A, N.E.R.D, Flying Lotus for the second time, Rye Rye, GLK, and tons of other acts. SO EXCITED.

Thank you L.A Weekly!

Laker Championship + Summer Solstice + Father's Day

Since my boys won the NBA championship this past Thursday, I have been in nothing but good spirits this entire weekend. Being the obsessive Laker fan that I am, I knew I was going to cry if the Lakers won or lost against those bloody Celtics, and I'm so glad I cried for something good, lol. And seeing Pau Gasol cry and Ron Artest flip out for his first championship win was even more heartwarming.

Sorry Celtics. Actually, nah, suck it. Revenge is sweet. =)

Yesterday, I went to Santa Monica to catch a glimpse of a few bands play along with Circa Survive and see Tony Hawk skate. Unfortunately, the Beach Ballyhoo was over capacity and we couldn't get it, so we had to admire Anthony Green and all his amazing-ness outside the venue and sit in the sand. And also, as I was walking back to my car, I ran into Tony Hawk and his family, which was pretty cool. His kids are the cutest.

But I did get to have some retail therapy before the show at H&M and grab a cute dress, some shorts, and some glasses that were on sale. The dress I got is so comfortable I swear; although it's black, it feels very cool to wear, and works as a excellent summer dress. Plus, the pattern is so cute.

The shorts were only $10! The bows on the pockets sold me.

I just love the flowered sunglasses.

Well, I'm off to bed. Laker parade is today, so gotta get some z's in before I have to wake up early. I hope everyone had a great and fantastic papa's/father's/baby's daddy's day. =)

My room looks like I'm stressed

I don't know why I even bother cleaning up my room some mornings, if it's going to be the same mess it was the day before. And why is it a mess? I have no clue; it's like my clothes just jump on my bed, like to fall in my closet, and all the nail polishes I organize by color in my closet end up on my computer desk...psh. Idk. I blame my headband I made last night. I've been too caught up on making it. HAH

And also...

I just signed up for livemocha tonight, and I'm starting off on my swedish lessons. WOO =) Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll at least know how to say three swedish sentences. lol

Obssesed.

So this past weekend me and my lovely girlfriends went to go see SATC2. Despite the overwhelmingly bad reviews I kept on reading over the LA Times and other publications, I really enjoyed it and couldn't disagree more with those reviews. It was alright, and with the fashion that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda were sporting, how can you hate? And with shoes like these that Carrie sported, don't even get me started.

But now, I'm actually getting up to speed with SATC and finally started watching the series (I never did before watching the first SATC movie). Now, you can't get me off the computer without at least watching two episodes a day, which isn't even that much, but still. The days I'm not doing much, it's like a SATC marathon in here. Just like it's gonna be right now...nite!

I don't mind sharing either

The other day, I ran into the website of an artist by the name of Ric Stultz, and couldn't thank the heavens enough to be graced by his art.

Welcome to the Club

Minds Racing

The 27 year old illustrator from Milwaukee that graduated from University of Wisconsin Stout who gets his inspiration from Arrested Development, spider monkeys, Biggie and Tupac, and Rembrandt creates his illustrations on what would born out of play on words. Despite the fact that the majority of his illustrations are made with blearly pain and dull colors, the images themselves are far from boring and dreary.

Some of his paintings made me chuckle at the cute-sey messages which were very heart felt (such as 'We Will Be Together Soon' and 'I Don't Mind Sharing'), and some of them just made me chuckle at how clever the image was (like Minds Racing).

Check him out at www.ricstultz.com.

Sidenote: I discovered him far too late, and was not happy to find out that his illustrations were being showcased in a gallery here in L.A. Tear...

the past few weeks in a nutshell.

and weeping over not being able to go to Coachella:

This past week has been a bittersweet one. Friday I got a speeding ticket when driving to Mexico, which was kind of a wakeup call into get back into drastic job hunting. And so I did. Today I dropped off some applications at Sephora and Aldo, and on the spot, I got an interview for tomorrow at Aldo, which is perfect since I don't have school. Things are looking up, and also, to save me from me 6 year misery of not going to Coachella, I've bought a piggy bank just to save up for it, and decided that going when I'm 21 is actually worth the wait. =) Ultra excited.

losing my mind and spring break

The past few weeks have been ridiculously hectic with midterms, but luckily now I'm appreciating my week off from school and enjoying spring break pretty good. So far it's consisted of shopping in Santa Monica, job hunting, long trips to Tijuana, and working on my jewelry. I'm hoping that with the Downtown L.A Artwalk coming up next week, I can find a way to set up a los anjealous booth for the next few months. Since the artwalk lands on my birthday, and if I'm able to settle a deal for May, that would be such a great birthday present. =)

I've been listening to this great little band from Ireland, thanks to the recommendation of my good friend Alfredo. Two Door Cinema Club has such great dance-y rhythm to their music, and they're definitely deserve the hype that they have gotten over the blogosphere. They're playing in West Hollywood May 5th at the Troubadour. Pre-sale tix are $10, and then $12 a the door. So excited. :)

what are you doing all up on my screen Bruce Willis?

Follow my blog with bloglovin
I just saw the new video for Gorillaz's new single 'Stylo' off of their highly anticipated album, Plastic Beach. I couldn't help but see this video and just think that it had a big Tarantino feel to it. It reminds me off Death Proof wayyy too much, and with Bruce Willis on it, it just adds on to that feel.

Just not too many donuts and tubby cops in Death Proof's chase scene:

rah rah kaching kaching

I'm not a crazy crazy Lady GaGa fanatic, and I find myself sometimes disturbed at seeing her performances, but I've gotta saw that this is pretty shweet, as well as this:

and this

Yeah, pretty much she never ceases to amaze me with all her craziness. Yo go girl, with your crazy self.

A drunk Jake Gyllenhaal, a rather lame Joe Jonas, RZA as a ref, and Lil Jon as a tennis coach.

Amidst all the useless e-mails that I got this morning in my inbox, one e-mail made my day. I'm sure all of you who have signed up to Vampire Weekend's mailing list also got the notice of the new video for 'Giving Up The Gun', but I don't know if you reacted in the same way as I did as when you give a 3 year old a box of licorice.

As you've seen with older Vampire Weekend videos, the boys have had this style to most of their videos, even with their last one 'Cousins', where it looks like it came out of an 80's teen film or just a preppy uppity video. Now with 'Giving Up The Gun', Ezra Koenig's ideas have made Vampire Weekend come out of their comfort zone, and grace us with a modern-looking video (for me the all white shouts futuristic to me) and even add cameo appearances! Trust me, the last person I thought I was going to see in this video was Joe Jonas.

As soon as I saw the whole tennis theme, I went crazy since I've been playing tennis lately. But I couldn't help to be annoyed and think how in the world did she beat a drunk Jake Gyllenhaal when she doesn't even know how to hold the racquet right, but i guess with Lil Jon coaching you, how can you lose? He surely gave her that Crunk Juice, thus resulting in flaming tennis balls.

post valentines

postsecret.com

Singles' Awareness Day could not have gone better while I spent the whole day with my lovely mother (waking up early to make her coffee and give hand her the pink tulips I got for her), took her to Downtown to shop, and then came back home and brought Luly and and Gladys over to grub and watch Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which I have to remember to order online now.

It was a great day, and happy that I did not feel like a loser again for spending another Valentine's Day single. I felt great with my girls, but if anything, my Valentine's Day was made great when I saw my mom smile a big ol' smile when she saw the pink tulips and had it on throughout the entire day. Gracias Mami por ser mi Valentin <3.

at home and being sick blues

Since my last post, an awful lot has happened. In brief, I'm going into my 4th week of being vegan, I'm loving my classes (finally glad to be taking my major classes), I've actually started working out and playing tennis, I got a texting plan, and John Mayer has proven himself to be a douche bag that makes me feel guilty when I listen to "Your Body is a Wonderland."

I haven't stepped out of my house in over 24 hours since I've been hit with some horrible allergies, which hasn't stopped me reading my copy of A Clockwork Orange that came in the mail earlier this week, but did stop me from going to my first frat party at UCLA last night and going to the movies today.

Oh well...til later my droogies.

hi 2010.

I've become so much more accepting of the the fact that 2009 was by far one of the lamest years ever. Although I did not work at my full potential, I've decided let go of all my remorse towards myself for not doing so, and I'm glad to be starting off fresh. I feel that although I made some progress towards getting closer to my goals, I didn't take advantage of the year fully and also, it didn't treat me as good, especially in school and work. It did start off at a bad foot anyways.

But forget the old year; out with the old, in with the new. I have high hopes for this year; I really wish that I do so much more this year and have a much more enjoyable year in so many different aspects (i.e., socially, scholarly, artistically), in which I would meet December 31, 2010 with a giant grin on my face shining off accomplishment. I want to do so many projects, spend much more time with family and friends, and not let school and work stress me out. I want to take control of this year and not let it control me, like so many things did last year.

So a toast to 2010 (which I missed to give yesterday at midnight, but better now than never). Let this be a positive year and one that will give me an adventure to not forget.
